Reference photo tips

A few good photos go a long way.

One photo per subject is the minimum; 1–5 lets you show the details that make them unmistakably yours.

01

Use clear, natural light

Window light or a bright overcast day helps us see colors and markings.

02

Make the face visible

Avoid very dark, distant, blurry, or heavily filtered photos when possible.

03

A full body helps

Include a standing or sitting photo so we can understand build, proportions, and favorite accessories.

04

Show the special details

A close-up can help with feather patterns, facial markings, collar tags, or a floppy ear.

05

Keep each subject separate

Upload references one subject at a time so your intake stays organized, even for a flock of 20+.
